Stan Ramaila, Sekhukhune District Municipality Executive Mayor, announced the Sekhukhune Development Agency, which has a new board Chairperson, Oupa Nkoane, has been allocated R3 million to operate.
SEKHUKHUNE – Sekhukhune Development Agency (SDA) has been allocated R3 million to operate in the current financial year, according to Stan Ramaila, Sekhukhune District Municipality Executive Mayor.
This Ramaila announced during the Sekhukhune District Municipality’s State of the District Address (SODA) at Moses Mabotha Hall in Ga-Nkoana village recently.
The Executive Mayor said as the majority shareholder, the Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) continued to support the SDA.
“For this financial year, SDA has been allocated three million rands to operate. We are also pleased to announce that Mr Oupa Nkoane has been appointed as Chairperson of the SDA board,” informed Ramaila.
Ramaila added that as the new Council one of their strategic objectives was to re-engineer SDA as a special vehicle purpose for local economic development and job creation. He said that they have mandated the new board to outline a process of re-modeling the agency in order to meet its intended objectives.
He further said: “In our 100 Days in office we have received concerns from various stakeholders about lack of visibility and perceived underperformance by SDA. In essence our people have not felt the presence of this structure since its establishment seven years ago. This calls on the new board to reposition the SDA so that it is visible amongst the people and seen as initiating economic programmes, in partnership with traditional leaders and the business community.”
