DRIEKOP- The family of the departed soccer legend Thomas Madigage is homeless after a bolt of lightning caught their home on fire last Friday. The once beautiful 13 roomed house built by the soccer star before he past way in 2012, in a car accident was burnt to ashes. The Madigage family said they were getting ready to bed when a bolt of lightning struck the roof of their house. Speaking to the GT News Lekau Madigage said he was in another house in the same yard when he suddenly heard a lot sound of lightning.
“It was just after 8:00, there was no heavy rain, it was drizzling and when the lightning struck I knew it must have been close to us, something kept pushing me to peep through the window and check what was happening. “When I eventually did, I saw smoke and fire billowing over the roof. I immediately went inside to rescue my grandmother who was inside the house,” narrated Lekau, Thomas Madigage’s nephew. He said they managed to evict his granny out of the house with the help of neighbours. “Am glad we arrived on time to save her from the fire, the situation could have been tragic, as my granny can’t walk on her own,” he added.
The family only managed to save some few furniture. “All we could save was a television set, and sofas. The rest was blown by the destructive fire,” he said. The family indicated that they will appreciate donations as it will be difficult to bring some balance in their lives. “We don’t have clothes, IDs, there is nothing. We even don’t have cutlery, the family pleaded for help from good Samaritans. Those who wish to donate something to the Madigage family can contact Emily Madigage on 081-8133-660.
