Some of the items police recovered during the arrest of three trio crime suspects who were terrorizing Laersdrift community in the Groblersdal police cluster.
LAERSDRIFT – Three suspects, who were terrorizing the Laersdrift area within the Groblersdal police cluster, were arrested during separate incidents during Limpopo SAPS sting operations conducted between Friday and Saturday, 27 and 28 October.
The crime intelligence led operations comprised members of the Crime Intelligence, the K9 Unit, Laersdrift SAPS and the Cluster First Responder Team. It focused on house robberies, carjacking and business robberies.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, Limpopo Provincial Police Spokesperson, said the first suspect was apprehended in Mamelodi, Gauteng Province, the second at Phokwane in Nebo and the third in Stoffberg between Groblersdal and Middleburg.
Mojapelo said during the arrests, police recovered 2 rifles, 700 rounds of ammunition for a rifle, a 9mm pistol, 166 rounds of ammunition for a pistol, a 38 special firearm with 200 rounds of life ammunition, a PNE laptop and a Plasma TV.
“These suspected stolen properties were found at the home of one of the suspects. One of the firearms was robbed from the legal owner during a house robbery that was committed on 28 September 2017 at Laersdrift. Other properties were stolen during a house breaking and theft at Laersdrift during October,” said Mojapelo.
The suspects, aged between 26 and 29, were expected to appear before the Middleburg Magistrates Court soon on charges of house robbery, unlawful possession of arms and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen property.
L.t General Nneke Ledwaba, Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner, commended the team for dedication members for a well coordinated operation that led to the simultaneous arrests.
