BURGERSFORT – The future is looking bright for local young author, Mpopane Malepe. The 20-year-old matric pupil from Mashakwaneng Secondary School in Mafarafara has just launched his debut novel, The haunt. Malepe grew up in Dresden and has always enjoyed reading and writing. Speaking to GT News, the talented lad revealed that the idea of publishing a book first came to him in 2014. “I was studying at JM Nsime Secondary School at the time when I learned that Motsime, who the school was named after, was also an author of several books. I idolised him, and enjoyed reading his books. I then vowed to follow in his footsteps.” From 2014 Malepe started jotting down his manuscript and seeking help from local authors. “I completed the book in 2016. My mentors helped to publish the book, and it has recently hit the stores.” Sharp Shoot Printing, a company based in Polokwane, did the publishing. The haunt is about challenges experienced by the youth. “Teenage pregnancy, poverty and bad decisions they make – which come back to haunt them in life. “I recommend this book to most teens, as well as parents who wish to guide their children on the right path in life,” Malepe added.
